Sad news continue

My aunt Zosia in sommer 2010

Well, there times when everything goes wrong. My aunt Zosia passed away. She was my mothers older sister and last sibling of my mother. We met her on my mother´s birthday in Juli the very last time. She was a very nice women und we all loved her. My parents treavell to Poland today. I cannot because I am sick. Zofia will be in our prayers.

Damages

Being sick and spending time on my couch sleeping makes me so bored. Fortunatelly R  brought home a really good series for me. And after we manged to connect his notebook to my TV and sound system we are watching Damages with Glenn Close ...

Sad news

Well, we were supposed to fly to Japan tomorrow. I am sick and we will stay here. I am so sad because of that, really and I am so angry that I got sick.... So holliday is over and I hope I will get better soon and we can go somewhere to relax.... We will go to Japan next year...

Dim Sum, yummy... spent a great evening with some great Dim Sum lately... thinking about organizing a Dim Sum evening at home with some friends soon...

I love my car

Little girl has had her licence for only three months. Got the car from her dad. Went out with the girls. Did not fit into the parking lot. Domage. She tried to hit the free space again. Hit the car parked next by instead. Ooops.... MY CAR.
And then? Well , she drove away!!!!!! Big mistake. No, not hitting my car... accidents happen and we are all insured but driving away???? No! Driving away with people standing in the street?? So there we were, the people in the street called the police. The police found me instead of  her and showed me my damaged car. And I had all the trouble going to the police. I wasn't really delighted to spend my time there and afterwards waiting some days for my car to be repaired. Okay, I did not have to pay anything but still I had really trouble waiting for the insurance guy to have a look at my damaged car... waiting for a appointment at the garage and renting another car... another ugly car... did I mention, that I love my car..?

By the way the little girl, I think she lost her driving licence. So please tell you friends not to drive away but wait for the other driver... she could be so good looking just coming back from her hairdresser ;)

Art is everywhere

Does it always have to be Monet or Paul Cézanne, whom I love by the way... but there are still other great art works like this one, which I pass on my way back home from work. Reminds me somehow of The Mask with Jim Carrey. No, I think it simply looks terrific and I am not sure the owner of this old factory liked it but it catches my eye every day. I think it is a great piece of art.

Tonight after work we went for a walk ... and there it was - the Wonder Wheel obviously with us up in the sky... :)

From Japan to Schützenfest

Yeah, yeah they are marching the whole weekend in front of our house... the whole town is full of them... It is a German "marksmen's festival" over here... :) :)

Japanese night out

We went to the EKO-House on Friday evening. Vernissage of Yōko Nakamura’s oshi-e, silk and brokade pictures. It was a very beautiful interpretation of the 54 chapters of The Tale of Genji Monogatari. She created with her helping hands (some other Japanese women) 54 picturs in 15 years. We were really impressed by the beauty of these three dimension pictures.

I am not sure you can get an idea from my fotos, how beatiful the pictures were. I hope the dimension are a bit regognizable.

And how do you describe a Japanese German event for someone who never joint one before? A bit strange, I would say. No it was great. Everyone thanked the others for being there at the beginning but the opening speeches weren’t that bad and long compared to the New Year Event we went this year. Nice koto players and interesting people.

We escaped after a while to Fuga, our favourite Japanese diner at the moment and afterwards we had a great time at a typical brewery. It was really funny!!! And we got home at 2 am.... thanx Nadja!!!

Things you need as a woman, sometimes :)

...new catch... organic ingredients...the bottle says "pomegranate is a strong anti-oxidant oil that can help reduce the signs of aging"... maybe ... well all of us getting older....but the best thing is - it smells really great and my skin gets a fabulous feeling...

what else? I am preparing for Japanese night out on Friday. First planning to go to a vernissage showing illustrations of The Tale of Genji later to a special Japanese restaurant... it is gonna be great!

Little trip to Japan

Last week was Obon Festival. According to Japanese Buddhist custom you have to honor the departed (deceased) spirits of one's ancestors during this time. Curious about the celebrations and the traditionally included dance, known as Bon-Odori we went to the Japanese Buddhist temple in Düsseldorf to have a look. There is a beautiful Japanese garden and a nice temple.. But we missed the celebrations because we were too late… well, the garden is so peaceful and beautiful, you wouldn’t believe in is in outside Japan… just nice to sit there in silence enjoying  the surroundings... it reminded me so much of Kyoto. Sitting there you won't see the surrounding "normal" buildings and you can feel as if you were far away in a garden somewhere in Japan. Just nice. There was still the scent of incense woods in the air and I did not even mind missing the dance.

Music is what saves my days

Mole listening pearls is my favourite music label and I am longing for nearly every new record. Nujazz, downbeat and electronic upcoming music streams best when they are complied by Minus 8. This CD came today. Science Fiction Jazz. This time volume twelve which is so pleasant soulful with a bit of soul and funk and I love it. I am loving it :) This compilation feels the air tonight and I hope my neighbours don't mind me listing to the record out on my balcony. This music is some kind danceable... cool.  Tonight it is not so warm anymore but the fresh and humid breeze outside makes me feel so good thinking about Ibiza and hot summer nights. I am realy looking forward to my next holidays. I will listen to good music, read some good books and be in Bali :)
I am still with Japanese fiction... Kawabata made me dream and sometimes cry, Tanizaki, Ogawa , Kirino, Mishima, Togawa and Soseki and now Inoue. and Kawakami .... Looking back in time I wish I could talk about the books with Ru again. It was such a good time exchanging our views and feeling being touched deep inside by the words of the writers and poets. Sometimes I think it made my fly... fly... even higher and I miss it

Duisburg Inner Harbour 8 pm on Tuesday

Last week I spent a nice evening at a new restaurant in Duisburg... actually a franchise idea I already knew from my days back in Frankfurt. It’s fresh and casual, almost hip at reasonable prices. Everything is made fresh in front of you gourmet style and the best thing is – it is so European. You get a card entering the restaurant, everything you order will be booked on it, you pay at the exit. To my friend it was new but she really liked it, especially the desserts :) we were sitting under a kind of a palm tree inside enjoying the food and the view at the inner harbour and talking for hours.
Being in Duisburg reminds me of my student days. Guess this - it has been already SEVEN years since my graduation…. Life is so different now. But somehow still the same. I think I will be back at Vapiano with some other friends soon.
